Namibia 2016. Crossing the desert.

Thursday 4th August, 2016.
Little Sossus Lodge to Swakopmund.

We started the day in the arid deserts of the Namib-Naukluft Park and finished on the coast at Swakopmund. It was a long drive and one that at times seemed to be passing through some of the most inhospitable areas imaginable with the temperatures well into the late 30's C. We crossed the Tropic of Capricorn, several deep dry canyons and then miles of scorched flat land. The roads were gravel but mostly in very good condition and often stretched out dead straight to the horizon. Having driven through desert for hours there was something quite surreal about reaching pools by the coast full of flocks of vivid pink flamingoes.
